In the Wetterstein Mountains, a 68-year-old tourist from North Rhine-Westphalia lost his balance on the descent and plunged one hundred meters into the depths. He remained lifeless at about 2200 meters altitude.

The 76-year-old stood on Friday afternoon on the roadside, as a supply vehicle drove past, said the police in Rosenheim. The man lost his balance and crashed down a steep slope. The mountain rescue team managed to resuscitate him. He was flown by helicopter to the hospital in Murnau, where he died shortly thereafter.

The wife of the man had to watch the accident and was cared for by a crisis intervention team. According to the police, witnesses testified that the vehicle had been traveling at a slow, adjusted speed and had not touched the 76-year-old.

The 68-year-old was traveling alone, according to police. A witness saw the accident and called the forces that hid the man.
