Barbie, the world-famous fashion doll, celebrates her 60th birthday on Saturday with new collections embodying real models and a career where women are still not well represented.

This is part of Barbie's evolution over the decades since it first appeared at the New York Doll Show on March 9, 1959.

To celebrate the occasion, Mattel made copies of Barbie for 20 women, representing inspiration for others from Japanese star Naomi Osaka to the British fashion model and actress. They also performed six puppets representing an astronaut, pilot, power, journalist, politician and firefighter. Women were not adequately represented.
