In an office tower of the NDR asbestos fibers have been detected in the air. The measurement was made in the 14th floor, whether other floors are affected, is not fixed yet. For safety's sake, the NDR has completely closed the building.
For 300 employees now other jobs have to be searched for, conference rooms are used and offices in the area are rented. Employees should also be able to work from home. According to NDR.de the transmission security is not impaired. There are no studios in the building but only offices.
The affected building was built in the 1970s. Probably an asbestos-containing filling material was used at that time. The fund is so-called blue-and-white, which can cause life-threatening diseases such as asbestosis or lung cancer.
The NDR now wants to check whether the skyscraper can be renovated.
