"So far we have registered about 40 aftershocks during the first three hours, the magnitude of four of them exceeded 4.0, and another three were more than 5.0," the center said on the Twitter page.

So far we've located about 40 aftershocks in the first 3 hours, ten with magnitudes greater than 5 and five with three magnitudes more than 5. Larger than larger than M7 is small (~ 4%).

Earlier, an earthquake of magnitude 7.1 occurred in the south of Alaska, 27 km north-west of Anchorage.
