A Tunisian mother launched a distress call to help her son, who was very intelligent, after being subjected to dismissal by a large number of schools because of his high ability to absorb lessons in a short period of time.

The nine-year-old child's condition was confusing to the authorities in the absence of local laws to take care of such cases or their members with a special status.

Local media and social networking sites have told the story of the child to demand a solution that allows him to continue his education in a normal setting. "My son is not studying in any school now, his problem is that his extraordinary intelligence made him an unwelcome student in public schools," the mother told the private Shams FM radio.

"So far he has studied in 12 schools and every time he gets first place, he studies alone but is always separated," the mother adds.

"The schools do not provide a clear justification, but they are content to say that I am looking for a solution. When I insist on his survival, he is under constant pressure in the classroom and he is no longer tolerated." According to the mother's story, the daily homework the teachers impose on her son does not add anything to her son, as the rest of the students in half a year can absorb it in one week. "The teachers admitted that they have to reduce their high rates," the mother said.

There are no laws allowing the granting of special rights to those in such cases as the child, but the authorities may have to sponsor him by another temporary law aimed at caring for children with disabilities or those with physical and mental problems. An official responsible for school integration in the Ministry of Education, Ilham Barboura, said that the ministry is preparing a bill to regulate the care of such cases for the talented and high-capacity students and will present them in due course.
