Blick Bassy in the lodges at Moods. RFI / Laurence Aloir

Revive the memory and transmit it, especially to the youngest ... This is the ambition of 1958 , title of the show of Cameroonian singer Blick Bassy. The premiere of this creation will take place on Saturday, December 1st, at the FGO Barbara Center, in Paris, as part of the Africolor festival. 1958, in Cameroon, is the year of the assassination of Ruben Um Nyobe, spearhead of independence, committed to social progress and Pan-Africanism, a kind of "Cameroonian Sankara".

The assassination of Ruben Um Nyobe is one of the worst crimes of colonization. The outraged body of the leader of the Union of the populations of Cameroon, entered rebellion, will finish poured in concrete. Sixty years later, Blick Bassy, singer, writer, story-smuggler, calls everyone to his responsibilities.

" It must be, " he says, " that there is really a kind of gratitude on the part of the colonial power which was France. The other side is also the responsibility of our heirs, these fighters, these brave warriors who gave their lives for us, those people who died so that we could be here today, that we can begin to enter a small corridor of sovereignty. "

The 1958 show will mix music, unpublished songs, stories and speeches. It was to host one of Cameroon's biggest rappers, Krotal , but he was denied his visa by the French authorities. Blick Bassy does not hide his anger: " To refuse a visa is a very strong message. It may be to say to the youngest : in any case, whether you are a leader or not, whether you are an exemplary or not, we will not give you a visa. Your only solution is to go to sea. That's what it means. "

After the show, with or without rapper, 1958 is expected to become a record, next year.
