President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy invited the government to work out the issue of creating an institution of registered civil partnership. The petition to register a partnership of same-sex and opposite-sex couples received the necessary number of votes in order for this issue to be considered by the Ukrainian president.
According to the Family Code of Ukraine, "the family is made up of persons living together and connected by a common life," according to the president's office. He stressed that this article cannot be changed within the framework of martial law or a state of emergency.
