Yerevan sent a letter to Moscow about the presence of Russian border guards in Zvartnots. Secretary of the Security Council of the Republic Armen Grigoryan said Yerevan’s position is that Armenian, not Russian, border guards should serve at the capital's airport.
Speaker of the Armenian Parliament Alen Simonyan expressed the opinion that Russia should withdraw its border guards. According to him, Armenian forces are capable of defending their borders themselves. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov did not confirm the discussion.
