The head of the State Duma Committee on Culture, Elena Yampolskaya, asked for clarification from the Russian Chemical Technical University. According to the university’s website there is information about the academic council, which in 2021 decided to award the title to Ulitskaya.
“That decision already seems strange to me, and even more so after 2021. I think that such clarifications will benefit the university itself,” she said. The writer admitted that royalties from sales of her books go to Ukraine.
