Weather service: volcanic eruption began on the Reykjanes Peninsula in Iceland. At 5:30 am (8:30 Moscow time) strong seismic activity began northeast of Mount Silingarfell.

The service clarified that, judging by photographs taken by the coast guard, the eruption is occurring in the same place where the eruption occurred on December 18 last year. On the same day, a lava flow reached houses in the town of Grindavik, causing several buildings to burn down. On January 20, Iceland reported the completion of the volcanic eruption.
