The country's weather service reports this.

It is noted that at 5:30 am (8:30 Moscow time) strong seismic activity began northeast of Mount Silingarfell.

“Approximately 30 minutes later, a volcanic eruption began at the site,” the statement said.

The service clarified that, judging by photographs taken by the coast guard, the eruption is occurring in the same place where the eruption occurred on December 18 last year.

In January, the volcano on the Reykjanes Peninsula began to erupt. On the same day, a lava flow reached houses in the town of Grindavik, causing several buildings to burn down. On January 20, Iceland reported the completion of the volcanic eruption.
