The Israeli occupation authorities demolished an 8-storey residential building under construction in the town of Beit Hanina, north of East Jerusalem, under the pretext of unlicensed construction. The occupation is deliberately reducing the number of building permits granted to Palestinians in exchange for increased settlement activity.

According to the Jerusalem Governorate (the highest official Palestinian representation of the city), the occupation has escalated its violations in Jerusalem since the start of the aggression against Gaza on October 7, 2023. The occupation authorities do not grant Jerusalemites building permits except within the narrowest limits and with exorbitant conditions and amounts.
