Sudan has been at war for 10 months between the FSR paramilitaries and the army. Lieutenant General Shams Eddine Kabashi, number two in the army, gave an uncompromising speech to his troops in Kosti, in the south of the country.

“There will be no political process without a ceasefire signed on our terms,” Lt. Gen. Kabashi said. The army adds that if a military solution is found, a political process could begin.
