War in Sudan: al-Burhan camp sets conditions for a ceasefire

The Sudanese soldiers set their conditions for peace. While the country has been at war for 10 months between the FSR paramilitaries and the army, the latter has listed its demands to end the conflict. Thursday February 15, Lieutenant General Shams Eddine Kabashi, number two in the army, gave an uncompromising speech to his troops in Kosti, in the south of the country.

In front of the 18th infantry division of the army, Shams Eddine Kabashi showed the intransigence of the Sudanese forces. “

There will be no political process without a ceasefire signed on our terms

,” Lt. Gen. said.

First requirement: the FSR must evacuate residential areas, public and private buildings, in order to reach cantonment centers.

Then, we need a military agreement integrating the paramilitaries within the army, a very serious obstacle since just before the war, negotiations between the two parties were blocked on this point - General Hemedti, leader of the FSR precisely taking his power of the existence of paramilitaries.

Finally, the army adds that if a military solution is found, a political process could begin. Shams Eddine Kabashi thus pleaded for participation by all, but many parties, for example, refuse the involvement of the former ruling party NCP.

“

If the demands of the Sudanese forces are not met, the war will continue

,” warned the number 2 of the army.

An uncompromising rhetoric which does not arouse optimism, but which comes at a time when the army is trying to regain the initiative. She has recorded several successes on the field since the start of an offensive in mid-January. Its leader, General al-Burhan, also made trips abroad to consolidate his international support.
