VTB CEO Kostin called US accusations of circumventing sanctions groundless. He added that loud statements by the United States are aimed at enhancing the effect of the next package of anti-Russian sanctions.
In a statement, the US Department of Justice said that Kost in faces imprisonment on charges brought in absentia. The head of VTB said that the American establishment is angry that VTB Bank managed to minimize the damage from the sanctions. He expressed sympathy for the detainees who became victims of American provocation.
