Earlier, Reuters wrote that the United States charged Kostin with allegedly violating sanctions.
In addition, as part of the case, two of Kostin’s assistants, Vadim Volfson and Gannon Bond, were arrested in the United States.
In a statement, the US Department of Justice said that Kostin faces imprisonment on charges brought in absentia.
“I have never violated any, including American, legislation, nor circumvented any sanctions,” RIA Novosti quotes Kostin’s statement.
He added that loud statements by the United States are aimed at enhancing the effect of the next package of anti-Russian sanctions.
Kostin expressed sympathy for the detainees who became victims of American provocation.
Kostin added that the groundless US accusations are due to the fact that the American establishment is angry that VTB Bank managed to minimize the damage from the sanctions.
