[HIGHLIGHTS] Volodin called the situation with Assange an example of lies from Washington, London and Brussels

State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin called the situation around Julian Assange an example of double standards, lies and meanness of Washington, London and Brussels. In his opinion, if Assange’s revelations concerned Russia or China, and not the United States, then he would be called a fighter for truth and freedom.

Earlier, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov called the persecution of Assange a disgrace to Western democracy. The UN declared Assange”s imprisonment illegal in 2016, and his extradition would be a flagrant violation of the European Convention on Human Rights.
