Anton Kornyshuk, a 38-year-old Ukrainian, was severely injured in the leg when he was shelled by Russian troops near the capital Kyiv in March last year. Korniszuk, who had studied Japanese at university, came to Japan in May last year with the support of his supervisors and continued treatment at Chiba University Hospital.

He has almost recovered and will return to Japan for the first time in about a year. He showed his intention to join the unit again and fight the Russian army.
