A Ukrainian man who was seriously injured by shelling by Russian troops and had been treated in Japan was on his way home on the night of the 26th, assuming that he had almost recovered. The men expressed their gratitude for the support of the Japan and indicated that they would rejoin the unit to fight the Russian army upon their return.

Anton Kornyshuk, a 38-year-old Ukrainian, who had become a medic in a civilian unit after the military invasion began, was severely injured in the leg when he was shelled by Russian troops near the capital Kyiv in March last year.

Korniszuk, who had studied Japanese at university, came to Japan in May last year with the support of his supervisors and continued treatment at Chiba University Hospital, but he has almost recovered and will return to Japan for the first time in about a year.

On the night of the 3th, Mr. Kornischuk appeared to be in good spirits as he bent down in front of the doctors and supporters who came to see him off at Narita Airport.

Kornischuk told NHK on Japanese, "I am grateful to the staff at the hospital.

He then stated, "I have to participate in the war with Russia, and I will join the army as soon as I am ready," and after returning to Japan, he showed his intention to join the unit again and fight the Russian army.

After Kornischuk was presented with a large fishing flag with his name written on it by the people who came to see him off, he waved as he headed for the departure gate.

Dr. Yusuke Matsuura, who has been treating me, said, "He has recovered more than I imagined through rehabilitation, and I don't want him to return to the battlefield, but I would like to visit Ukraine and meet him again when peace comes."
