Two inmates commit suicide in the space of two weeks at the Epinal remand center. The two men were aged 23 and 38.
In 2022, 125 incarcerated people died by suicide in France, according to the International Prison Observatory. 239 people were housed on January 1 in this men's Remand center which has 253 places. The Epinal public prosecutor announced that two detainees killed themselves within ten days of each other in the city's remandcenter. The men were sentenced to prison terms for acts of aggravated violence.
