Sudanese grassroots entities organized a demonstration in front of the residence of UN staff in the city of Port Sudan, northeastern Sudan. The demonstrators demanded the expulsion of the head of the United Nations Transition Support Mission in Sudan (UNTM), Volker Peretz, from the country.
This comes in parallel with renewed violent clashes in Khartoum on Thursday between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces. Eyewitnesses told Al Jazeera that the clashes in the vicinity of the presidential palace and the General Command are the most violent since fighting broke out on April 15.
