The County Administrative Board of Östergötland is running out of firewood. The reason is that the budget has almost halved compared to previous years.
The board is not allowed to cut down trees or the like in the areas when the wood is out. Instead, they have had to prioritize measures against the spruce bark beetle and the control of invasive species on land. The head of the nature conservation unit on the island has expressed his concern about the decision to stop using the wood storages.
