US President Joe Biden announced an executive order expanding his administration's powers to issue sanctions against those responsible for threatening peace, security and stability in Sudan. US Director of National Intelligence Avril Haines stated during her testimony before the US Senate Armed Services Committee that the two parties to the conflict in Sudan are seeking external support.

The adviser to the former US envoy to Sudan, Cameron Hudson, said that Biden's statement on Sudan is a positive move from the perspective of US policy. The editor-in-chief of the Sudanese newspaper Al-Ahdath Adel El-Baz said that the statement came in light of the developments now taking place in the land of Sudan.
