US Central Command said it carried out its strikes on Thursday and Friday after detecting an "imminent threat" to US Navy ships and commercial vessels. The strikes hit 4 drones and two cruise missiles that were prepared to be launched from Houthi-controlled areas in Yemen towards the Red Sea.

The command added that it also shot down 3 drones near commercial ships in the Red sea, noting that the ships were not damaged. Al Jazeera correspondent Fadi Mansour documented the launch of warplanes that participated in intercepting the Houthi marches on board the US aircraft carrier Eisenhower.
