The United States did not support Algeria's draft resolution at the UN on a ceasefire in Gaza. The American permanent representative to the world organization Linda Thomas-Greenfield said that the resolution would allegedly jeopardize negotiations on the release of hostages.
Earlier, the Russian Foreign Ministry stated that the UN Security Council is not fulfilling its mandate on the situation in Gaza due to Washington’s actions. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov emphasized that the United States is trying to impose its approaches on the future of the Gaza Strip, which have nothing to do with international law.
