The United States did not support Algeria's draft resolution at the UN on a ceasefire in Gaza

She argued Washington's position by saying that the resolution would allegedly jeopardize negotiations on the release of hostages in Gaza.

In addition, according to the American permanent representative, this would harm the introduction of a long pause in hostilities.

Earlier, the Russian Foreign Ministry stated that the UN Security Council is not fulfilling its mandate on the situation in Gaza due to Washington’s actions.

Russia's permanent representative to the UN Vasily Nebenzya said that the United States, besides Israel, is the only country that opposes itself to the world community, which is convinced of the need for a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov emphasized that the United States is trying to impose its approaches on the future of the Gaza Strip, which have nothing to do with international law.

According to him, the Palestinians have the legal right to create their own state, including all national territories.
