A Palestinian human rights report said that the Israeli occupation authorities are holding in refrigerators the bodies of 23 martyrs from the occupied city of Jerusalem. The occupation detains the bodies according to a judicial decision for the purpose of using them as bargaining chips.
In September 2019, the Israeli Supreme Court issued a decision allowing the Israeli military commander to temporarily detain the bodies and bury them. The oldest bodies held by the occupation belong to the martyr Misbah Abu Subeih, who was martyred in October 2016, and the most recent are the two martyrs Wadih Alyan and Fadi Jamjoum, who were martyrs last February.
