The Ministry of Transport considers it premature to introduce an open skies regime at Sochi airport. The absolute priority now is the development of domestic tourism in Russia, despite the importance of developing air links with other countries.

“The introduction of an open Skies regime may negatively affect the transport accessibility of this direction for Russian citizens, and therefore we consider consideration of this issue premature,” the press service of the Ministry of transport said. RIA Novosti reports this with reference to the department's press service.
