The Russian Ministry of Agriculture proposed introducing an embargo on the export of cane or beet sugar and chemical sucrose until August 31. The corresponding draft resolution was published on the federal portal of draft regulatory legal acts.

At the end of February, Russian President Vladimir Putin received Russian Agriculture Minister Dmitry Patrushev in the Kremlin. Earlier, the EC stated that they were monitoring the situation with the import of Russian agricultural products to the EU. The Russian government has not commented on the proposed ban on sugar exports.
