Simona Halperin was summoned to the Russian Foreign Ministry due to unacceptable statements. The department called Galperin’s statements “an extremely unsuccessful start to the diplomatic mission.” Earlier it was reported that the former Israeli Ambassador to Moscow Alexander Ben Zvi was retiring.

In December, the Russian President's Special Representative for the Middle East and African Countries, Mikhail Bogdanov accepted copies of credentials from the new Israeli ambassador to Moscow Simone Halper in a meeting at the Foreign Ministry.
