“Due to unacceptable public statements by the Israeli Ambassador, distorting Russian foreign policy approaches and historical realities, Halperin will be summoned to the Foreign Ministry,” the Russian diplomatic department told TASS.

It is noted that we are talking about the diplomat’s interview with the Kommersant newspaper. The department called Galperin’s statements “an extremely unsuccessful start to the diplomatic mission.”

Earlier it was reported that the former Israeli Ambassador to Moscow Alexander Ben Zvi was retiring.

In December, the Russian President's Special Representative for the Middle East and African Countries, Deputy Head of the Russian Foreign Ministry Mikhail Bogdanov accepted copies of credentials from the new Israeli Ambassador to Moscow Simone Halperin.
