The Government appoints Carmen Calvo president of the Council of State after the Supreme Court annulled the appointment of Magdalena Valerio. The appointment, confirmed to EL MUNDO by government sources, forces the former vice president to leave her deputy record.

The Supreme Court decided to annul Valerie's appointment for not meeting the requirement of "jurist of recognized prestige" required by article 6 of the Organic Law of the council of State in November 2023. And in February of this year, it dismissed the annulment incident.
