Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel called for an end to the genocide against the residents of the Gaza Strip. The Cuban president is among the Latin American leaders most critical of the Israeli war on Gaza, which has been ongoing since October 7, 2023.

Belize and Bolivia severed their relations with Israel due to the war, and Colombia, Chile and Honduras recalled their ambassadors from Tel Aviv, and Colombian President Gustavo Petro accused Israel of carrying out genocide in Gaza. Israel was brought before the International Court of Justice on charges of committing genocide.
