The Canadian Federal Police announces that it has been subjected to a massive cyber attack. Federal Police spokeswoman Marie-Eve Breton said that “a violation of this magnitude is worrying,” adding that it was controlling the attack.

Police launched a criminal investigation into this violation, and pledged to hold those responsible accountable. With the help of Canada's National Cryptographic Agency, which provides Ottawa with IT security and foreign signals intelligence, police said they were still assessing the size and scope of the security breach.
