US President Joe Biden announced his country’s intention to establish a temporary seaport off the coast of Gaza. It is expected that the American port will have an impact on the importance of the Rafah land crossing.
Egypt was completely absent from the US-led arrangements to establish the floating port and activate the sea corridor from Cyprus to the Gaza Strip. The countries participating in the floating project aim for the process of introducing aid and reconstruction to be managed through the new port and not through land crossings.
