Police officers detained scientist Alexander Kibalchenko, whom the investigation considers to be the customer and organizer of the murder of his former son-in-law. According to investigators, the scientist wanted to leave Russia in transit through Belarus and thus hide from the court.

In August 2022, RIA Novosti, citing the official representative of the Main Investigative Directorate of the Investigative Committee in Moscow, Yulia Ivanova, reported that, according to Investigators, Kibalhenko offered his friend to kill his ex-son- in-law for $50 thousand.
