In Sudan, as fighting continues in the capital, Darfur and North Kordofan, and the humanitarian crisis worsens, the head of the army made a wave of appointments. The new vice-president, i.e.

number two of the Sudan Sovereignty Council, which – officially at least – still governs the country, is Malik Agar. The decree of the armed forces appointing him to this post was published on Friday, just after the announcement of the dismissal of General Hemed Hemed.
