Sudan, on the verge of “the worst hunger crisis in the world”, authorizes humanitarian aid from Chad. This was announced Tuesday evening by Clémentine Kweta-Salami, the humanitarian coordinator in Sudan.

For 15 days, convoys destined for this region had in fact been blocked at the Chadian border. The authorities of Port Sudan suspect Chad of letting weapons pass for Rapid Support Forces (FSR), which are fighting the army Sudanese. Less than 5% of Sudanese can afford a full meal a day, and 18 million are acutely food insecure, including 5 million who have reached the last level before famine.
