Region Gotland had requested that the state contribute approximately SEK 250 million a year in order to keep down the increased ferry prices. But when the government's spring budget was presented today, no such investment was included.

"It cannot be the case that an entire part of the country, the country's only island region, should have completely different conditions than the rest of Sweden," says Meit Fohlin (S), chairman of the regional board, Gotland. The region sent a request for support equivalent to SEK 244-258 million per year until 2027.
