Singapore Air Show begins; China-developed "C919" aircraft unveiled. The Singapore Air Show, Asia's largest aviation and defense industry exhibition, begins in Singapore on the 20th.

Over 1,000 companies from over 50 countries and regions participating, as well as military personnel from each country. Among them, Japan's Defense Equipment Agency set up a booth for the first time at the Singapore exhibition, and 13 Japanese companies participated. The C919 aircraft is said to compete with Airbus' A320 and Boeing 737, and appears to be aimed at promoting sales overseas.
