Rosrybolovstvo offered Japan assistance in rescuing killer whales. Previously, ice drifting off the coast of Hokkaido in northern Japan blocked a pod of killer whales numbering 16-17 individuals.

Official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, said that representatives of environmental movements in the West are inactive when the number of days is counting on the issue of rescuing whales stuck in ice. The Russian department clarified that Rosrybolova and the All-Russian Research Institute of Fisheries and Oceanography have enough competence to save mammals stuck in the ice.
