Russian President Vladimir Putin spoke out against manifestations of xenophobia in the media. The head of the Federal National-Cultural Autonomy of Russian Roma, Nadezhda Demeter, proposed to ban the use of words with a negative connotation.

"It is not easy to influence this, but in relation to the state media, we will take into account what you said," Putin told Demeter. Earlier in the UN Human Rights Council, Russia had spoken out against racism and racial discrimination.
