The head of the regional council of the Federal National-Cultural Autonomy of Russian Roma, Nadezhda Demeter, proposed to ban the use of words in the media that would indicate nationality, having a pronounced negative connotation.

According to her, the use of such words has become more frequent in the blogosphere and in the media.

In particular, she urged not to support manifestations of Roma phobia and any other phobia towards other peoples.

"As for the blogosphere, there, of course, it is not easy to influence this, but in relation to the state media, this definitely needs to be done, we will take into account what you said," TASS quoted the president as saying.

According to Putin, the Russian authorities will try to do everything to prevent elements associated with any kind of xenophobia in the media.

Earlier in the UN Human Rights Council, Russia spoke out against racism and racial discrimination.
