Russian President Vladimir Putin promised during talks with BRICS partners to raise the issue of Russian video game developers entering foreign markets. Putin was told that the Russian market is open for Chinese video games, but Russians are experiencing inconvenience, since developers need licenses from the Chinese government.

Just 10-15 licenses a year would be a breath of fresh air, Putin said. In December last year, the Russian government discussed systemic measures to support domestic video games until 2030. Three scenarios for the development of the video game industry were proposed with funding from $7 billion to $50 billion until 2030, the most ambitious scenario involved the launch of a Russian rating agency.
