Five people, including former Chief Cabinet Secretary Matsuno of the Liberal Democratic Party, have submitted a request to the House of Representatives Political Ethics Review Committee for an investigation into the issue surrounding a faction's political funding party. If a review board is held, it will be the first since 2009.
The Liberal Democratic party is considering holding the event as early as the middle of next week, and has even proposed holding it over two days. In response, the opposition parties are calling for the review committee, which is normally closed to the public, to be held in public.
