Heavy spring flood in the Torne River has submerged parts of the village of Juoksengi in Övertorneå municipality. One of those affected is Kjell-Hugo Mäki, who has several centimetres of water inside the house.
"There's a hell of a lot of cleaning," he says. It was on 19 May that SMHI issued the first warning about extremely high flows in theTorne River. It's still serious, but by seven o'clock this morning the water had subsided ten centimetre from the night and by the afternoon it has dropped another ten centimeters.
