Sudanese government agrees to hold indirect negotiations with Libyan-Turkish mediation. The deal includes the withdrawal of all armed forces from the country.

The agreement is expected to be implemented by the end of the year, according to a statement from the African Union. The UN estimates that more than 13,000 people have been killed since the start of the conflict in March 2011. The death toll could rise to more than 20,000 if the talks go ahead as planned, the UN says.
