Morocco received 5.1 million tourists in the first 5 months of 2023, a 20% increase compared to the same period in 2019. The number of tourists who visited Morocco in May reached one million, an increase of 55%.
The Corona pandemic has affected that sector during the past few years, as international tourism has declined to the point of a complete halt in most countries. Morocco says its plan to revive the tourism sector expects 26 million tourists a year until 2030. 11 million tourists visited Morocco during the whole of 2022.
