The national carbon emissions trading market was officially launched on July 16, 2021. Zhao Yingmin, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment of China, said at the State Council's regular policy briefing held in Beijing on the 26th.

At present, the national carbon emission trading market covers approximately 5.1 billion tons of annual carbon dioxide emissions and includes 2,257 key emission units, making it the largest carbon market covering greenhouse gas emissions in the world. In the future, we will adhere to the principle of "seeking progress while maintaining stability, first easy and then difficult" and prioritize the inclusion of key industries.
