Matvienko proposed toughening responsibility for election violations in Russia. Earlier it was reported that 61 criminal cases were opened regarding violations related to the conduct of elections in Russian.
The proposal was made by the Chairman of the Federation Council Valentina Matvienka. The senator noted that it is quite “perfect”, but minor attempts are still being made to prevent Russians from voting in elections. The legislation needs to be strengthened in terms of increasing the responsibility of citizens for such actions and increasing punishment for such acts.
